Alumnus Isaac Heagney showcases his HSC work on the world stage

Alumnus Isaac Heagney from the class of 2018, accompanied by his former teacher and Technology and Visual Arts Coordinator Justin Munro, have taken the trip of a lifetime to Phoenix, Arizona in the USA.

Isaac was awarded the title of Rural Young Scientist last year for his emergency alert for rock fishermen, designed as part of his HSC Design and Technology major work.

As a result of his prototype, Isaac was invited to the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Phoenix where he has had the opportunity to showcase his invention to thousands of delegates at the fair.

Mr Munro has reported that the enormity of the event is “incomprehensible.”

“Honestly, ISEF has been the most amazing thing I have seen. Nine students from Australia are part of our delegation competing amongst 1800 students from over 75 countries for the next five days,” said Mr Munro.

We are extremely proud to have our students represent at such a notable competition—the largest science and engineering expo in the world for pre-college graduates. We wait in great anticipation for further updates!
