SCAS Year 3-6 Primary Athletics Carnival

The SCAS Year 3-6 Primary School Athletics Carnival will now be held on Monday 18th June 2018 on the Front Oval. Please note that the structure of the day has changed from our original planning, with the removal of the 1500m event which will now be held outside of the carnival program, at Long Break on Tuesday 19th June. Please refer to the summary of events on the following page for further details.

At 8.50am (sharp), all students will be required to meet their classroom teacher at their classroom to complete roll call. Students will then be accompanied to the Front Oval and placed into their age groups which they will stay with for the duration of the carnival. The carnival is set to conclude by 3.20pm at which time students will be able to make their way home per normal school day arrangements. Students will have a break as per the regular timetable (i.e. Long Break) and therefore canteen orders will not be affected. Please refer to the Carnival Summary of Events on the following page for further details regarding the timing for the day.

Parents are welcome to attend this event. We request that parents be mindful of the pedestrian activity around SCAS at all times and please observe the designated speed limit if entering the school grounds. Parking along the Iona Avenue boundary is the preferred option. It is a requirement that all visitors to SCAS sign in at the Front Office before making your way to the Front Oval. Please do not park in front of Columba Cottage.

As the carnival is a compulsory whole of Year 3-6 activity, no acceptance is required in the Parent Lounge.

What to wear/bring:
Please ensure that your child(ren) have the following items (with names clearly marked):

• SCAS Sports Uniform, including correct House Shirt (where available) along with appropriate footwear and a hat;
• Sunscreen (coloured zinc is allowed for the face only);
• Good food for the day (or a canteen order) and a water bottle (not in glass please);
• Any first aid/medical requirements (i.e. Epipen/Asthma Ventolin, knee/ankle guards, strapping etc.)

In addition to the main carnival, the High Jump events will be completed on Wednesday 6th June in the Iona Sports Stadium. Any students wishing to participate in this event will be excused from class at the designated time.
