The SCAS Secondary School Athletics Carnival will be held on Thursday 21st June 2018 from 8.50am until 3.20pm. The Athletics Carnival is compulsory for all students in Years 7-12. Please note that any early departures require the approval of Mr Guihot. As this is a whole of Secondary School activity, no acceptance is required in the Parent Lounge.
Parents are welcome to attend this event. We request that parents be mindful of the pedestrian activity around SCAS at all times and please observe the designated speed limit on school grounds. Parking along the Iona Avenue boundary is the preferred option. It is a requirement that all visitors to SCAS sign in at the Front Office before making your way to the Front Oval. Please do not park on the Oval, in front of Columba Cottage or in the ‘Kiss and Drop’ area.
Students are to assemble on the Front Oval in their Tutor Group from 8.30am-8.50am where a Roll Call will take place at 8.50am. The first event will commence at 9.10am following a Carnival briefing at 9.00am. Students will move to each event in their respective age groups on a rotational basis. All students will reassemble in House groups for the relays to conclude the Carnival. The Athletics Carnival is scheduled to finish at 3.15pm which will enable students to travel home per normal school day arrangements. Year 12 students: Senior students may wear House colour costume/dress which follows the school mufti clothing guidelines. However, correct and appropriate sporting attire is a requirement to compete in races. Alternatively,
students must adhere to the uniform guidelines above.
Students who wish to wear specific running attire MUST wear navy blue or black pants and only SCAS running singlets
are permitted. Please have your child see Mr Johnson or Mr West prior to the carnival if they wish to borrow a singlet.

Contingency Plans for Wet Weather
If extreme weather conditions occur please listen to Star FM 102.3 for cancellation notices. If the carnival is cancelled students are required to wear their normal SCAS uniform and attend regular classes.
HRIS Carnival
The Hunter Region Independent Schools (HRIS) Athletics Carnival for Years 7 – 12 will be held on Tuesday 31st July 2018. Students who place 1st and 2nd in their age group for each Track and Field event may be selected in the SCAS team to attend the HRIS Carnival. We request that students notify Mr Johnson or Mr West as early as possible if they do not wish to be eligible for selection in the SCAS team to attend the HRIS Carnival.
