Iona Café Grand Opening

A chilly and wet morning could not dampen the enthusiasm of our Year 12 students at the official opening of the Iona Café today. Enlivened by the café atmosphere and the warmth of a hot drink, our Year 12 Student Leadership Team were invited to help us celebrate the occasion.

School Principal, Mr Terry Muldoon, used the opportunity to thank these student leaders for their hard work this year. “Part of this is to let you know that we value you as ‘Seniors’ and to recognise your contribution to the school,” he said.

The Iona Café unofficially opened at the beginning of Term 2 and has proven to be extremely popular among our Year 11 and 12 students. The new facility gives them another zone to meet together and unwind.

The official opening was a chance to pause and thank those members of staff who have worked many long days to provide this facility for our Year 11 and 12 students, our parents, staff and friends of the school.

“It’s only happened because there has been a lot of hard work behind the scenes,” Terry said.

Particular mention was made to Adam Sinclair our Head Chef. “Adam has been going berserk for the last six weeks to make sure that everything is perfect,” Terry said.

He also personally thanked several other staff who have played an instrumental role in the café opening, including: Garry Clifton (Business Manager), Mark Brown (Managing Director of The Iona) and Rebecca Gillespie (Events Manager).

The Iona Café is open from 8am – 4pm, Monday to Friday and on Saturday from 8:30am – 12pm.
