Rock platforms really rock!

Year 11 Biology students enjoyed a fabulous morning at Spooney’s Bay, Bonny Hills, while conducting a field study of local rock platforms recently.

This first assessment task, a mandatory component of the Preliminary Biology Course, involved conducting a belt transect to sample the number and distribution of mollusc, barnacle and algae species. The data collected will be extensively analysed back at school, to determine relationships between organisms and their non-living surroundings in this ecosystem.

The students worked effectively and collaboratively in their teams and were great ambassadors for our school. Well done Year 11.
