SCAS hosts futsal gala day for Hastings schools

SCAS recently hosted several primary schools from the Hastings area to compete in a Futsal Gala competition. SCAS entered 2 teams into the Year 3/4 division and 1 team in the 5/6 division on the day. With teams being mixed gender it gave some of our talented girls a chance to compete with and against the boys…and they certainly didn’t let anyone down.

From the outset, all of the SCAS teams displayed great skills and team work with each SCAS side recording dominant wins throughout the pool stages. Both SCAS Year 3/4 teams qualified through to a grand final meeting against each other. The SCAS Blue team were expected to win with many of their squad being older than their SCAS Maroon rivals and having a superior level of experience in the sport. The SCAS Blue team took an early lead before their younger rivals scored 2 quick goals to be down 3-2 at the half time break. With the game in the balance the SCAS Blue side increased their intensity, scoring some wonderful goals against the Maroon outfit who were gallant in defeat.

The Year 5/6 side were matched against Lake Cathie Primary in the grand final. The game was played at a fast pace with both sides creating scoring opportunities. The SCAS team managed to convert 4 chances before half time, while Isaiah did a wonderful job as goal keeper to deny every attempt at goal by Lake Cathie. The second half followed a similar trend with the SCAS team recording a good win.

Congratulations to all participants on the day.
