Year 10 Commerce Road Trip

Year 10 Commerce have had two exciting days on the road!

Students travelled to Sydney on the school mini bus with HSIE teachers Mrs Houlahan and Mr Zagami, and began their trip with a “sleepover” in the cells of historic Maitland Gaol, where they also had the opportunity to participate in a Torchlight Tour “150 Years Under Lock and Key”, which explains the rich history of the gaol, which is now a museum.

The students then continued on to Sydney, where they spent their second night camping on Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour. As part of this stay a tour guide gave them a tour of the island, and explained its significance and rich history. Whilst in the Sydney CBD students also attended a number of events and venues which have relevance to a variety of topics that they have been studying during their Commerce course. These included visits to Taronga Zoo, Downing Centre Courts and the Reserve Bank of Australia.

This excursion has provided many valuable experiences for our Commerce students, not only educationally, but in growing their confidence in accessing venues and facilities in an urban environment.
