Today, I had the privilege of witnessing a remarkable moment as Adelle Gregson, SCAS Alumni, and my daughter, was admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of NSW. While this was a moment of immense pride and joy for our family, I was struck by the wisdom shared by the judges during their address to these new lawyers.

They emphasised the importance of being human in their interactions, advocating for ethics, fairness, critical thinking, clear communication, and collegiality. Acknowledging inevitable mistakes, they spoke of the value of handling them with integrity and honesty. This resonated deeply with me, reflecting the complex competencies of Deep Learning and reinforcing the significance of our work in preparing young people for their futures.
During our assembly this week, our students were reminded of the multitude of co-curricular opportunities available at SCAS, commencing next week. These opportunities not only develop skills in the 6 Cs but also foster a sense of belonging to our school community and among peers. I encourage our students to embrace these opportunities, enhancing their engagement and enriching their school experience.
Please mark your calendars for the following upcoming events:
– Tuesday 20 February: House Spirit Day – students to come in house colors or sports uniform
– Monday 26 February: Secondary Swimming Carnival
– Tuesday 27 February: Year 7 Meet the Teacher (from 5.00pm)
I hope your child has had a positive start to the year and remains enthusiastic about the experiences that lie ahead. Wishing you a restful and enjoyable weekend.
