I would like to congratulate our Athletics team on their victory this week at the HRIS athletics carnival, securing first place in Division 1. This outstanding achievement was a result of the talent, hard work, and school spirit of all members of the team. Congratulations to all of the students who competed and were part of this result. We look forward to recognising them in front of the school community at our upcoming assembly. This victory is a testament to the dedication and excellence our students strive for in all their endeavors.
This week in Secondary School, we commenced the process of preparing our Year 10 students to step into Year 11. The subject selection evening on Tuesday night was well attended, and students took the opportunity to talk to staff about their choices of study for next year and to plan their future pathways. Senior studies and the HSC pathway are areas where St Columba excels. Students have a wide variety of resources to draw information from, including teachers, Year Patrons, and senior students. I would especially like to thank our senior leaders, Sam Whelan and Charlotte Eichler, who gave up their time to provide advice to Year 10 students on the night. I encourage all students to ensure they complete their first round of selections to provide us with the best data to construct our elective lines. For further careers advice, I recommend visiting our careers page, scascareers.com.au which offers valuable information.
Year 8 students will soon be stepping into Year 9, and we will host a subject selection evening for these students as well. It is an exciting time as students have the opportunity to have a voice and choice in their pattern of study. Please note the date: Tuesday, 20 August, at 5:30pm.
Finally, our Year 9 students attended St Thomas’ Church this week for an informative look into the history of the church and an understanding of its role in serving our community. This visit is a valuable part of our service learning program, as our students gain an understanding of their own ability to contribute to the community and how this aligns with the Anglican ethos. Congratulations to all students on their representation of the school at this event.
Thank you for your continued support in fostering an environment of excellence and community at St Columba.
