It’s been a tremendous start to the year, with our students already demonstrating excellence across a wide range of endeavours. I’d like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to our CIS open boys soccer team who were victorious in their first-round match, showcasing outstanding teamwork and skill on the field.
Further congratulations to Eloise Flower and Lizzy Collett, who won the Asia Pacific GoIT Innovation Challenge! This remarkable achievement now qualifies them for the Global World Finals, a testament to their creativity, problem-solving abilities and dedication. Well done, girls!
I’m also delighted to acknowledge Flynn Gillespie who has been selected to represent AICES after his exceptional performance representing HRIS in basketball this week. Flynn’s commitment to his sport and his school is truly commendable.
It was wonderful this week to welcome our Year 7 parents to our annual Meet the Teacher night. Mr Twigg, our Year 7 Patron, spoke passionately about his desire to connect with students and families and ensure that as a year group, they are all working together. TUPO PAMOJA — “We are together.” He also addressed the need to develop healthy habits with respect to many challenges of the teenage years, including device use (Laptop and Phone), group messenger chats, sleep and eating. If parents would like to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to reach out and contact the school. Our goal is to work in partnership with families to ensure our young people have the maximum opportunity to succeed and flourish.
On Tuesday at assembly, Mr Guihot spoke about habits and encouraged students to shed old, unproductive patterns and consider what new habits they might develop. The school offers many opportunities for our students to explore new and exciting avenues for developing these habits. As an example, this week, we acknowledged our Performing Arts leaders, once again highlighting the importance of our co-curricular program. These activities not only enable students to pursue their passions as they work alongside like-minded peers but also offer a variety of leadership opportunities for our young people.
Further leadership opportunities are being offered next week as our students will courageously address their peers in a bid to be Year Representatives. We wish all aspiring applicants the best of luck.
As we continue through the term, I’m reminded of how fortunate we are to be part of such a vibrant, supportive community. Your partnership in your child’s education is invaluable, and I look forward to seeing the wonderful achievements that will undoubtedly unfold in the weeks and months ahead.
