As we draw closer to the end of another remarkable year, I am delighted to share some of the wonderful activities and achievements that have enriched our school community in recent weeks.
Our participation in the North Coast Anglican School Games was a testament to our students’ diverse talents and exemplary sportsmanship. Our school was brilliantly represented across multiple disciplines, including soccer, chess, volleyball, netball and rugby. I am particularly proud to report that our teams secured first place victories in chess, volleyball and netball, contributing to an outstanding overall second place finish amongst competing schools. More importantly, our students were exceptional ambassadors for our school, demonstrating both competitive spirit and admirable conduct throughout the events.
The spirit of Christmas has filled our campus this week through our traditional Nine Lessons and Carols service and our Carols in the Amphitheatre event. These celebrations not only showcased our students’ impressive performances but also provided valuable opportunities for our community to come together and celebrate this significant time in our Christian calendar.
As we approach the year’s end, I want to remind parents about the upcoming student-led Deep Learning Conversations. These discussions are vital moments where we make your children’s learning journey throughout the year visible to both themselves and their families. Our focus is on celebrating how our students are good, not just measuring how good they are – an important distinction that reflects our Deep Learning philosophy.
I warmly invite all parents to join us for our End of Year Awards Ceremony, which will be held in the Iona Stadium on Wednesday, 11 December, from 11.30am to 2.00pm. We encourage you to arrive early to enjoy the art display and light refreshments available from 11.00am. Please note that this year’s ceremony will not be held at The Glasshouse.
This combination of sporting achievement, artistic expression and academic recognition exemplifies our commitment to developing well-rounded individuals who excel across multiple domains while maintaining strong community connections. Thank you for your support of our programs here at St Columba.
