Earlier this week, Year 6 student Tom Marchant, attended the NSW Combined Independent Schools (CIS) Primary Open Boys Cricket trials seeking selection in the CIS team to participate in the NSW Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA) tournament early in Term 4.
The trials were held at The Kings School in Sydney, with approximately 150 students in attendance. Tom was trialling as a keeper batsman. After playing well through the net/fielding sessions on the first day he was excited to get an invitation to return to the second day, involving the final 24 cricketers.
The second day involved more batting and fielding sessions followed by a game. Tom excelled in every component of the trial and was subsequently rewarded with selection in the final CIS team.
This is a remarkable achievement for Tom which was further acknowledged by the CIS Team Manager who, when speaking with our school, advised that Tom was the stand out wicketkeeper attending the trial and was also a talented batsman.
Congratulations to Tom and we wish you well in the PSSA tournament to be held on the NSW/Victorian border next term.
