CIS Swimming Success

Congratulations to AICES swimming representatives Lara Neilson in Year 11 and Lily Barlow, Grace Curran and Carys Gill in Year 9 who competed in the CIS swimming championships at Sydney Olympic Park on the 2nd and 3rd of May 2022.

The girls, three of whom are only 15 years old,  participated in both the U16 4 x 50-metre medley relay, and the U16 4 x 50-metre freestyle relay finishing in 5th place in both events achieving impressive time improvements of almost 2 seconds in both races.

In addition to the relay events, all four girls also represented AICES in individual swims. Backstroke specialist Lara (16) finished 9th in the 50-metre backstroke, 5th in the 100-metre backstroke and 6th in the 200-metre backstroke. Fresh from her recent performances at the Australian National Age Championships in Adelaide, Lily (15) came 2nd in the 200-metre freestyle and 5th in the 100-metre freestyle. Grace (15) came 9th in the 50-metre breaststroke and Carys (15) came 7th in the 50-metre freestyle.

A fantastic performance by our SCAS swimming champions who did themselves proud competing against the best swimmers from Independent Secondary Schools throughout NSW.
