Great teamwork at HRIS touch football gala

SCAS recently attended the Open Boys & Girls Touch Football Gala held at Nelson Bay. The conditions tested all of the participants with the temperature getting to a scorching 36 degrees.

Despite the last minute withdrawal of a key member of the team, the boys showed great teamwork and structure, having the
best defensive record of any team on the day. They also created many opportunities in attack to dominate the pool stages of the competition. The SCAS boys then played a tight semi-final, and with the scores locked at 3-all their opponents managed a try against the run of play in the final seconds of the game to deny any chance of SCAS bringing home the silverware. Their final placing of 3rd remains a great result.

The SCAS Girls team had a mixed day, being handed an extremely tough draw against 2 very slick teams, and eventual finalists, in the pool stages. The girls showed glimpses of their potential and never gave up, narrowly missing out on the finals to finish 7th on the day.

Well done to both playing groups for your fine representation of SCAS at this event.
