We are excited to introduce Mr Huon Barrett, our new Director of Sport and Co-Curricular. With a wealth of experience in teaching and leadership roles, we look forward to the positive impact he will bring to our Sports and Co-curricular programs.
Before joining SCAS at the start of Term 2, Huon held several leadership positions in education throughout NSW. He served as the Director of Co-Curricular and PDHPE Teacher at The Armidale School, Head of PDHPE at Kinross Wolaroi School, and both Head of Senior School and Head of PDHPE and Sport at St Luke Grammar School.
Huon is eager to build relationships with students, staff, parents, and the wider community in 2024. He aims to help develop our already impressive co-curricular program, bringing his experience and passion for education to SCAS. In addition to his role, Huon is also taking Personal Development, Health and Physical Education classes in the Secondary School.
The SCAS Marketing and Communications team met up with Huon to learn a bit more about his interests and passions.
What was your favourite co-curricular activity as a student?
Rugby and Basketball but I also really valued the opportunity to play music and be involved in outdoor education.
What is your favourite thing to do on the weekend?
Surfing, spending time at the beach, or a coastal walk and coffee with my wife.
What was your latest good read?
I love a Jack Reacher book, however, ‘Here It Is’ by Paul Roos – “Coaching should begin with understanding the true importance of building relationships”
Tell us a fun fact about you (the quirkier, the better!):
A fun fact about Huon is his love for theme parks. He particularly enjoys roller coaster rides with his children, making these thrilling experiences a highlight of his family outings.
Welcome, Huon!
