All students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 will participate in a variety of field and running events. Students will be grouped according to their House and Year level rather than age. This is a non-competitive carnival with a focus on participation, skill development and the development of House spirit. As the Carnival is a compulsory K–2 activity, no acceptance is required in the Parent Portal for this event.

All students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 will participate in a variety of field and running events. This is a non-competitive carnival with a focus on participation, skill development and the development of House spirit.
Students will be grouped according to their House and Year level rather than age. Students will achieve points for their House depending on how far they throw or how fast they run. Outstanding achievements will be acknowledged at an assembly.
The Carnival will begin at 9.30am and conclude at around 2.00pm. The Carnival will be followed by students returning to class for quiet activities.
If you intend to take your child home early with you once the Carnival is over, please remember to sign them out at the temporary Reception Office in the Dawson Library before leaving the school grounds.
What to Wear and Bring
Please ensure that your child has the following items (with names clearly marked):
- SCAS Sports Uniform, including hat/cap, correct House shirt (where available) and suitable enclosed shoes;
- Sunscreen (coloured zinc is allowed for the face only);
- Good food for the day (or a canteen order – please pre-order if purchasing food from the canteen);
- Water bottle (not in glass please).
We encourage students to have a slightly larger Short Break food supply on the day, as they may be a little hungrier.
Contingency Plans for Wet Weather
If extreme weather conditions occur, a cancellation notice will be issued to parents via SMS. If the Carnival is cancelled, students are required to wear their normal SCAS uniform and attend regular classes.
Spectators
We are pleased to advise that our School community is very welcome to attend this event. We would ask that visitors are mindful of the pedestrian activity around SCAS at all times and please observe the designated speed limit if entering the school grounds. Parking along the Iona Avenue boundary is the preferred option. Please do not park in the Columba Cottage car park.
