SCAS Dancers Shine at the Opera House

Dance students from Years 7 to 12 represented SCAS Dance at the highest level on Sunday, 30th July 2017.

These students competed in the Sydney Eisteddfod Secondary School Dance Group Section in June this year, and from this, 8 school groups were then named as finalists to perform in a Gala Final held on the Concert Hall stage of the Sydney Opera House last Sunday afternoon. St Columba Anglican School was the only school outside of Sydney to be selected.

Their performance was titled “The Force” after its Star Wars theme. Audience members included SCAS Principal, Mr Terry Muldoon, Deputy Principal Mr Allan Guihot and  SCAS Managing Director of PAC, Mr Mark Brown, who all gave amazing reviews.

Geraldine Higginson of Dance Australia Magazine said about the section “the Secondary School Dance Group Finalists performed with a precision and force”. Adjudicators Olivia Ansell and Rebecca Dwyer explained how every group that stepped onto the Sydney Opera House stage was phenomenal, and that the hard work put into the routines by the students and teachers was undeniable.

SCAS Dance teachers, Mrs Shelly Kelly and Miss Brianna Thomas, are very proud of this group of young dancers who represented St Columba and regional NSW superbly.
