Our largest-ever equestrian team recently showcased their skills at the Interschool Horse Extravaganza in Tamworth, one of the most prestigious competitions in the region. With over 400 riders participating in various disciplines—including eventing, dressage, show jumping, show riding, and sporting—this five-day event saw intense competition and remarkable performances from riders across New South Wales.
The St Columba team excelled, with standout performances and top placings across multiple categories. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our riders for their impressive achievements:
- Elle McCarthy Champion in the 80cm Combined Training and 1st place in the 1.3 Dressage.
- Rubi Luff 1st place as the 10-year-old Rider and took home Champion Open Galloway, along with Supreme Open Show Horse Exhibit, a title earned against fierce competition from riders spanning Kindergarten to Year 12.
- Pearl Littler earned 1st place in Open Hack and 5th place Rider
- Ella Cristoforo took 2nd place in the 50cm Combined Training and 5th place in the 60cm Show Jumping Accumulator.
- Audrey Littler achieved 4th in the 60cm Show Jumping Accumulator and 10th in Cross Country.
- Imogen Hindes, representing SCAS for the first time, placed in the top 10 in her Dressage division, making an impressive debut.
In addition to their individual accolades, our primary riders—Elle, Ella, Pearl, and Audrey—added excitement to the event by competing in the fan-favourite “Hoof and Woof” competition. This unique event involved navigating a riding course followed by a dog race, a delightful spectacle for the audience. Dressed in a Barbie and Ken theme that quickly became a crowd favourite, St Columba’s team captivated spectators and judges alike, ultimately earning an outstanding 3rd place overall.
Special thanks go to Bronnie McCarthy for her dedicated organisational support and to all families for their encouragement and presence, helping make this event memorable for all our riders.
Congratulations once again to our St Columba riders for their dedication, sportsmanship, and achievements at the Interschool Horse Extravaganza!
