Elizabeth Collett and Eloise Flower are set to represent Australia at the global finals.
Two innovative Year 8 students from St Columba Anglican School (SCAS) have claimed first place in the prestigious Australasian GoIT Innovator of the Year Championships. Elizabeth Collett and Eloise Flower beat 15 competing teams from across the Asia-Pacific region with their groundbreaking mobile application design, SCRAPP.
The students developed their award-winning concept as part of SCAS’s Technology Mandatory program, which has maintained a valuable six-year partnership with TATA Consultancy Services (TCS). Their application addresses UN Sustainability Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
SCRAPP uses artificial intelligence to identify waste items and provide users with proper disposal methods. The application goes beyond basic recycling guidance by offering creative upcycling ideas specifically designed for families looking to engage in sustainable activities together.

“Elizabeth and Eloise presented their design with exceptional professionalism and creativity,” said a representative from the judging panel. “Their innovative approach to addressing waste management through technology stood out among all entries.”
The victory means the team will now represent Australia at the global world finals later this year, where they will compete against other regional winners from around the world.
This achievement highlights the success of SCAS’s Technology program and its ongoing partnership with TCS, which has provided hundreds of students with real-world technology experience. The program connects students with global mentors from TCS, giving them invaluable exposure to industry professionals.
We wish the girls the best of luck with the next stage of the competition and will keep the school community updated on their progress.
The school extends special thanks to Stuart Cuckson and the Design, Art and Technology Department for their continued support and guidance throughout this program.
