Rain did little to dampen the enthusiasm of our students at the 2017 SCAS Secondary School Swimming Carnival, with each House group in full song in support of their fellow team members.
A record number of students attending, combined with some strong encouragement from House captains, resulted in a great level of participation across the day. The increased number of individual races unfortunately left us running short of time to complete any relay events, however the Carnival was still a success, with the day being filled with fun, crazy colourful costumes, mixed with some brilliant individual swimming performances.
The day was concluded with the pinnacle event, which places the fastest six freestyle swimmers in the school up against each other for a one lap dash. This race is referred to as the ‘Champion of Champions’ and it didn’t disappoint. In the Girls event, Grace Bannon defended her crown from last year, beating home Molly Kemp and Tilly King. In the boys event, Sam Begbie continued his four year domination of the event, narrowly touching out his younger brother Joe Begbie, with Max Atherton third.
The overall point score race was tight throughout the day, with Innes House taking bragging rights over Farrell, Robinson and McCabe.
Congratulations to following Age Champions who performed exceptionally on the day:
