Each Wednesday a group of our Year 9 SCAS students enjoy serving at the St Thomas’ weekly soup kitchen as part of our Pastoral and Chaplaincy program. This is an excellent opportunity to serve community members who are in need of some support in their life.
Our students have represented themselves and the school community in an exemplary manner, and have been greatly encouraged by their time each Wednesday. Each and every student has come away with a sense of satisfaction from being other-person centred, and have developed a compassion and understanding towards those who may be on hard times.
As an Anglican school it is wonderful to see our community involved in such work. Micah 6:8 says the Lord seeks us to ‘….act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God’. It is a pleasure to take part in this community work with these fine Year 9 students.
