At SCAS, we understand the importance of wellbeing in maintaining an environment in which students and staff thrive and flourish. This is why we emphasise the significance of wellbeing each year during Wellness Week, a time when students and staff are encouraged to engage in activities that enhance their overall wellness.
We know that students with a strong sense of wellbeing, capable of expressing gratitude, hope, and emotional regulation, demonstrate improved academic performance across all areas. Additionally, students with a high sense of hope are more adaptable, enabling them to overcome failure by adjusting their approach and making corrections. This not only reduces the likelihood of long-term failure but also enhances self-worth.
During Wellness Week, our staff and students embraced the opportunity to pause and engage in mindfulness, physical activity, and exploration of new creative forms of expression. It served as a timely reminder of the enrichment gained from prioritising our own and others’ wellbeing amid our busy lives. Looking ahead, our challenge is to maintain a consistent routine that ensures we remain mindful of wellbeing each day. Doing so will enable us to flourish in all circumstances.
This year students enjoyed a variety of engaging activities designed to promote health, happiness, and a strong sense of community. In the Primary School the highlights included the delightful Teddy Bear’s Picnic, where Stage 1 students brought their favourite stuffed toys and participated in fun activities with their Year 6 buddies, and the Camp Out event featuring camp chairs, pop-up tents, games, and a cosy campfire setting (minus the flames), creating a perfect space for relaxation and camaraderie.
From mindfulness sessions to creative workshops, each day offered unique opportunities for students to unwind, connect, and focus on their well-being. Our Wellness Week not only supports our students’ mental and physical health but also strengthens the bonds within our school community.
