Year 11 Ancient History Archaeological Dig at SCAS

Our Year 11 Ancient History students have undertaken an archaeological dig on the back oval as part of their introductory course.

They were given a case study of clues and worked collaboratively in teams to excavate their artefacts. They worked outside for one week evaluating their finds, asked questions and made informed judgements based off the evidence excavated. Despite unfavourable weather during the week, it gave the students a valuable insight into the conditions that archaeologists contend with, the methods used and the interdisciplinary skills required to uncover the truths of the past.
