Year 12 Student Leadership Committee Retreat

For the past six years, we have held a leadership retreat for our Year 12 leadership team, and this retreat is now embedded within the DNA of the leadership at SCAS.

The two-day retreat prepares our new leaders for the challenges ahead — spiritually, emotionally, cognitively and socially. At the conclusion, it is hoped that our students feel more centred in their purpose as leaders of the SCAS community, and to quote Jack Crofts, House Captain for McCabe, ‘Now I get what this is all about and what I plan to do.’

Each year we invite past St Columba students to attend the retreat and share their experience of leadership. By all reports, these former students have been outstanding. Emily Brown, Jacob Killick, Harry Webb, Jordan Magnus-McCarthy, Olivia Koch and Annabelle Smead have all shown maturity beyond their years.

Our new Year 12 leaders did a fantastic job working in teams, completing all activities and supporting each other. It is comforting moving into the new year knowing that we have incredible young people who will help to shape our School to even greater heights over 2019.

Thank you to our Leadership Coordinator, Miss Peta Watters, for her efforts in organising this event for the students, and our Principal, Mr Terry Muldoon, and Deputy Principal and Head of Secondary, Mr Allan Guihot, for their encouragement and guidance. A big thank you also to staff members Mrs Julie Beard, Mr David Beard, Mr Daniel O’Mullane and Rev. Paul Hodge for their continued support and contribution to the retreat.
