Year 12 Business Studies students have engaged in a Learning Partnership with Sails Port Macquarie by Rydges throughout 2024.
Earlier this year, students visited Sails Resort during their first Focus Day and were taken on a tour to learn about the Resort’s operations, processes, and strategies. This excursion allowed students to develop an extensive case study for the topic of Operations in the upcoming Higher School Certificate Examination.
On a recent Focus Day, students presented solutions to a real-world problem the Resort is currently experiencing, an issue posed by their Marketing Manager, Kylie Cleverly. This gave students an authentic opportunity to develop and demonstrate their competence in communication, collaboration, and critical thinking. These are skills we aspire to develop in our students so that they can thrive beyond school. Students also benefited from receiving invaluable feedback on their work from an industry expert.
This learning partnership has been a key driver of Deep Learning for our Business Studies students, and has provided an opportunity for them to demonstrate the observable behaviours that we value and are working towards measuring and formally recognising.
