During Term 1, all Year 6 students participated in an English superclass where they learnt how to interpret, structure and write various types of poetry.
The unit also focused on students developing their speaking skills through performance poetry. Their learning culminated in a Poetry Slam competition where nine finalists performed their poem in front of Year 6, parents and judge, Principal Terry Muldoon, to claim the title of 2017 Poetry Slam champion.
Mr Muldoon had the extremely tough task of determining the winners and remarked that only fractions of marks separated many of them. Congratulations to Emily Dunstan who took out the top award. Second place went to Ben McLean, closely followed by Ban Rashdan in third.
