A breakfast for a cause…

Our Interact Club held its first fundraiser of the year today, hosting Sunrise Rotary Club’s weekly Friday morning breakfast in the Trade Training Centre of the school.

The event provided an opportunity to introduce the 2017 Interact Club committee of Caitlyn Howard (president), Jacob Killick (vice-president), Naomi Kallmier (secretary), Bridget Gaul (treasurer) and directors Thomas Craddock, Anna Morrison, Chris Palin, Imran Rashid and Shrukita Mane (pictured below).

These students were supported by a number of club members in preparing the breakfast which included café quality coffee prepared by the club’s baristas, Anna Morrison and Laura Ausling. The Sunrise Rotary Club, which sponsors the Interact Club, then heard from HSIE teacher Mr Lee Hancock in relation to Qhubeka, a charity that purchases bikes for children in South Africa and other countries to use as transport. Proceeds from the breakfast will buy two bikes for these children.

Finally, Managing Director of the Performing Arts Centre Mark Brown presented the Sunrise Rotary Club members with a virtual tour of the new Performing Arts Centre and outlined its main features. The school looks forward to hosting the club at a later date so they can tour the completed building project.
