HRIS Open Soccer Gala Day

Earlier this week nine of our SCAS girls travelled down to Newcastle for the HRIS Open’s Soccer Gala Day. The team consisted of Meg Goodwin, Adele Gregson, Naomi Kallmier, Jane Whalen, Jacinta Wright, Sarah Ross, Bethany Heazlewood, Emily Taylor and Olivia Koch. Unfortunately we were two players short of a full team the entire day, so no substitutes. The girls went down 1-0 in the last 90 seconds of the first game, and that winning team went on to place second at the end of the day.

To say that the girls did well is an understatement. They were exceptional! They maintained their positive and competitive attitudes all day, they fought hard for every ball even when their feet were covered in blisters. The girls displayed excellent sportsmanship by encouraging each other throughout the day and won the praise of their competitors and the coaches from the other schools.

In the end our SCAS team placed 6th – an absolutely amazing achievement. A big thank you to Mrs Wallace and Mr Pannifex for accompanying the teams to Newcastle.
