John Foulcher Visits SCAS

Recently, SCAS had the privilege of hosting renowned Australian poet and educator John Foulcher. John has had a long and highly esteemed career and spent time last week engaging with our students about the power and value of poetry in our lives.

For John, his relationship with poetry has enabled him to ‘gain a greater understanding of myself and the world’. His message to our students, that Poetry ‘holds up a mirror, so the lines of the face can be seen more clearly’, is one that speaks to all of us, as students who receive poetry, but also as composers.

Our school has benefited greatly from a longstanding relationship with John, an inspiring speaker and compassionate, deeply spiritual person. His message, that poetry connects us to our contemplative selves, invites us all to explore the potency of poetry in our lives.
