Koala Hospital Volunteer Thanks Stage 1

As part of World Environment Day which was celebrated on 5 June this year, Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 decided to be proactive and raise some vital funds for the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital.

Stage 1 have adopted ‘Zenani’ over the last few years and wanted to continue to be able to do so. It is evident how threatened our gum tree loving friends are and many children have some happy and some sad koala stories to share.

On the 16th June, Kindergarten, Year 1 and 2 students got their ‘boogie on’ at a disco and also had a colouring in competition. Lots of children also enjoyed guessing how many lollies were in a jar.

At Assembly, a volunteer from the Koala Hospital gave us a lovely insight into the work they do. We presented them with the money we had raised and they were very thankful, welcoming us all to come and visit them at the hospital. We happily sang the John Williamson ‘Koala, Koala’ song and made a promise to care for our furry creatures and call the hospital if we find an injured animal!
