Mathletics Regional Champion

Teddy Dalzell (Year 2) has been named as the Division 1 (K-3) Mathletics Regional Champion. Teddy competed in a live Mathletics speed and accuracy challenge against some of the best mathematicians from local schools. Teddy was the highest scorer of the heats and went on to win the final. Teddy won a trophy and great prize for himself as well as a ‘Sphero’ for the school. Mr Dan Zavone (Director of STEAM) gratefully accepted the sphero on behalf of the school.

Sophia Price (Year 4) competed in Division 2 (Yr 4-Yr 6) of the speed and accuracy challenge. Sophia performed admirably and won her heat. She narrowly missed out on a place in the final. However, Sophia’s score combined with Teddy’s score saw St Columba Anglican School take the overall school title.

Teddy and Sophia were selected to compete in the speed and accuracy challenge as they had gained the most mathletics points during the challenge week held in September.

Evita Jamieson, Liliana Clarke, Robert Vandoras, Matthew Griffin and Claire Flynn were randomly selected by Mathletics from over 350 St Columba students who gained over 1000 points during the mathletics challenge week held in September. These students were awarded a certificate and went into a draw to win some great prizes.

The event was sponsored by Westport Club and celebrated with popcorn, drinks and a lolly bar.
