Meet Rylee

What is your role at St Columba?

I am the EdTech Trainee. I fix broken laptops and other devices. Well, I try to fix broken laptops and other devices!

Why did you decide to take a gap year/traineeship?

I wanted to take a break before I went to film school because I knew it would be a very intense workload for the next few years. This position came up and everything seemed to fall into place.

How has the transition from student to staff been for you?

I found it difficult at times, just because I knew some of the teachers from my old high school, so that felt a bit funny to call them by their first names and not by their teacher names. But it’s been really cool, the staff have all been very supportive and very understanding of me trying to remember everyone’s names.

What are some highlights so far?

Seeing the students’ smiling faces every day.

What advice would you give to SCAS Year 12 students who are considering their options for next year and the potential of a GAP year or undertaking a traineeship?

Nah for reals, it’s a great opportunity to transition into the workforce.
