Milly Dunbar receives Youth Community Service Award

Leaders serve because there is a need, and often do so without the desire to have the spotlight of recognition bestowed upon them. However, there are times when exceptional acts of service leadership are acknowledged by organisations.

Every year, the NSW Branch of Order of Australia Association recognise 25 exceptional students across NSW for their extraordinary contributions to the community via their Youth Community Service Award.  This prestigious Award recognises philanthropic and community service by individual students. This year, nominations were sought from over 960 NSW High Schools; nominees were considered by a judging panel of three Order of Australia recipients.

We are very proud and pleased to announce that Year 12 student, Milly Dunbar, has won this significant award. In September, Milly will travel to Sydney and attend a prestigious function at Government House hosted by the Order of Australia Association and the NSW State Governor, where she will be presented with a certificate and a trophy acknowledging her exceptional community efforts. Milly’s efforts have included raising over $20,000 towards local and national charities, running food and toiletry drives, creating awareness campaigns, making over 200 bags for the Soup Kitchen patrons and becoming the NSW regional winner of the Zonta Awards for young women leaders.

Congratulations to Milly for being a true young leader who has given so much to others in need.
