Smashing success at statewide Shakespeare Carnival

This year, SCAS participated for the first time in a statewide Shakespeare Carnival competition by Sport for Jove Theatre Company.

We entered seven categories at the regional level and four of our groups made it to the State Finals held over the June long weekend. For this event, the eight students travelled to Sydney and competed against over 20 schools from across NSW.

I would like to thank Iona Peak Performing Arts Academy students and the Year 9 Dance Certificate elective for their participation at the regional and state levels. A special thanks to Mrs Lukes for her work with the Year 9 Dance entry.

The results from the four categories we entered at the finals level each were awarded places in the finals.

Awarded 3rd Place in the category of Music Composition:

  • Adam Hempsell with his composition of Brightest Star
  • Kira Mistry for her vocal performance with Adam in this Category

Awarded 3rd Place in the category of Smart Film:

  • Piper Graham and Liam McCann

Awarded runners-up in the category of Duologue:

  • Piper Graham and Adam Hempsell

Special mention was made of Piper’s acting performance in her role as Beatrice.

Awarded overall winners in the category of Dance:

  • Zoe Game
  • Angus Ismay
  • Kira Mistry

These students have been awarded the crown and ribbons which we will display in our trophy cabinet in The Iona Performing Arts Centre.
