Congratulations to SCAS students Sam Begbie (pictured above with PDHPE teacher, Andrew West) and Jacob Hardie (pictured below) on their recent involvement in the NSW Rugby Union Open Schoolboys trials.
Jacob (Year 11), representing Association of Independent Co-Educational Schools, was excited to have the opportunity to represent at an Open Schoolboy level after an untimely injury prevented his involvement last year. He was named on the bench for the first game, however was rewarded for a strong performance and promoted to the starting XV for the remaining trials.
Sam (Year 12), representing NSW Country, played at inside centre for each game and was satisfied with his performance throughout the trials, which culminated in him kicking 5 from 5 conversions in a 35-5 win against GPS. Sam was unlucky in narrowly missing out on selection in the NSW Schoolboys team, being named as a shadow reserve. Throughout the trials Sam was fortunate to have the opportunity to train with the Mens NSW Country team including one of SCAS’ Senior PDHPE teachers, Mr Andrew West.
Congratulations to Jacob and Sam on their success.
