Primary School Public Speaking Success at HRIS

Our annual Primary School Public Speaking Competition continues to be a success. Every student from Years 2-6 prepared and delivered a 2 minute speech on a topic of their choice.

Speeches were delivered in front of classes and teachers selected the top three students in each class to compete in the finals held in the chapel on the 4th April 2019. These were ably adjudicated by Ms Nicola Gallace, Mrs Libby Watts and Mrs Jennifer Crofts. The first four placed students were invited to represent the school in the HRIS Public Speaking Competition.

15 students from Years 3-6 represented St Columba Anglican School at HRIS in Public Speaking on the 19th June 2019. The competition was held at St Phillip’s Christian College in Cessnock.

Students were selected to compete in one of the following four categories: Bible Reading; Impromptu Reading; Poetry or a Prepared Speech. The student’s attitude, behaviour and performance were a credit to our school.

The standard of competition was impressive with 17 schools competing. A great day was had by all. We received the following results in this highly competitive competition:
