St Columba Partners with the University of Melbourne

Recently St Columba was announced as a partner in the Melbourne University New Metrics collaborative research venture. Headed up by internationally recognised academic researchers and thought-leaders, this partnership aims to reimagine and influence schooling across Australia.

“This represents a fantastic opportunity for our school to transform what we value in education,” said Director of Professional Learning, Mr Chris Delaney. “We know that the ATAR is not a fair and accurate representation of a student’s skills, ability and experiences. How can you capture thirteen years of education in a two digit number?”

Thirty-seven innovative schools, representing various states and educational sectors, will work with academic experts over the next two years. “In the coming weeks we will meet with our academic mentor and begin discussing our work around Deep Learning. We know that dispositions such as critical thinking, collaboration and communication are essential for success in life. Working with the researchers, our challenge will be to create the tools to monitor and measure student growth in these areas”.

Stay tuned for more information about this exciting partnership.
