Chess Team Victorious

This year has started well for the St Columba Anglican School chess teams, with students meeting regularly with Primary on Mondays at Long Break and Secondary at 8.00am on Tuesdays. Earlier this month we sent a team of 26 students from Primary and Secondary to the Day of Chess held at Westport Public School. The teams both experienced success with the Primary team finishing 3rd on the day and the Secondary team finishing in 2nd place. Both teams have won the right to play in the semi-finals of this competition later this year. Some outstanding individual results included:

  • Julian Sagolj 4th in Primary
  • William Corey 3rd in Secondary
  • Isaiah Chandler 5th in Secondary

The secondary chess team has continued its good form in the NSW Junior Chess League Knockout competition. Yesterday the team travelled to Wauchope High School where they had a resounding 4 – 0 victory. The team consisted of William Coorey, Timothy Ebbs, Joshua Blue and Isaiah Chandler.
