What We’ve Been Doing in Primary Japanese!

In primary school Japanese lessons we enjoy learning about a different culture and challenging students to create sentences and speak in Japanese.

Year 6 have recorded themselves introducing each other in Japanese. They also learned to assess their peers and give feedback. Some students were embarrassed to show their speeches to their peers, but most enjoyed trying to speak in Japanese.

We do a lot of fun activities in Japanese lessons. We made national flags for Harmony Day and discussed how Australia is a multinational country. We talked about how it is important to understand and respect different cultures. For Easter we made “Usagi” (rabbit) origami and discovered that many Japanese people don’t know about the meaning of the Easter.
