2018 has seen Vocational Education and Training (VET) at SCAS go from strength to strength. This year St Columba had the first nomination and finalist at the North Coast and Mid North Coast 2018 NSW Training Awards.
Jack Bligh-Jones, a past VET Construction student, was a nominee and top 3 finalist for the VET in Schools Student of the Year award. This is quite an honour when statistics show that over a quarter of a million students are engaged in VET in schools nationally. The ceremony was held at Opal Cove Resort in Coffs Harbour and saw the acknowledgement of many outstanding students across a vast number of industries in the VET sector. All finalists were acknowledged on stage for their achievements and received cash prizes.
Jack completed his Certificate II in Construction last year and placed 7th in the state in his Higher School Certificate. He is currently undertaking a Certificate III Carpenters apprenticeship, Certificate IV in Building and Construction and a Diploma of Construction Management.
The SCAS community is always proud of past student’s achievements and would like to congratulate Jack on his outstanding effort and accomplishments in his area of expertise.
