Dance at St Columba

For the past ten years, St Columba Anglican School has been the leading provider of Dance education on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. In 2018 Dance at SCAS will continue to evolve, with new pathways and choices available in response to the broad range of students’ needs.

All children are living, breathing, moving human beings with a need to express and communicate using fine and gross motor skills. This is the key to why dance and sport and concrete involvement in learning will never be replaced by technology. Dance has been a staple in every society since the dawn of time. It has withstood rapidly changing worlds because it continues to develop with society and to teach crucial skills. The very essence of dance draws from skills in mathematics, science, multi-literacies, technological innovation and uses these as access points for guiding student inquiry and dialogue.
