Environmental Education at SCAS

St Columba were fortunate in securing environmental education sessions for all of our Primary students, funded by Port Macquarie Hastings Council.
The theme this year was ‘Everything Organic’. The students examined natural and human systems and our role within these. Ideas were explored using creative activities, discovering interactions between humans and other living organisms, focusing on organic waste recycling.
The students learnt what happens to the organic waste generated and workshopped ways in which they and their families can reduce their environmental impact.
Highlights were observing the younger children create their mini-worlds and then dramatise being in the JR Richards organics recycling plant.

We would like to thank Chay Khamsone from Impact Environmental for the wonderful, engaging lessons and follow up activities related to our Geography, Maths and Science and Technology outcomes.
