Introducing SCAS School Psychologist, David Bruce

David Bruce is excited to be joining SCAS as the School’s Psychologist.

David has been working clinically as a psychologist in public health, schools, private practice and university settings over the last 23 years. He has spent most of this time living and working in Port Macquarie as a Child Psychologist, providing assessment and treatment for childhood conditions, parent support and adolescent mental health within the community. David values working closely with local supports such as General Practitioners, Paediatricians, Private Psychologists, and external metropolitan units such as Westmead Children’s Hospital to help empower families.

At the University of New England, David worked within a busy psychological service, providing clinical treatment services for students and supervision for fifth and sixth year Psychology Masters’ students, as well as providing study skills support for university students. Most recently, David has worked with the Department of Education in the Port Macquarie area in Primary and Secondary settings as an Educational Psychologist.

David is excited to bring his background in educational settings to SCAS and also looking forward to working with teachers, staff, students and their families to support learning and engagement. When he is not working, David enjoys listening to and playing music and spending time with his family and two Border Collies.
