Matt Jones graduated in 2013 and recently returned to SCAS, to share his experiences of life after school to our Year 11 students.
Matt commenced a course with the University of Sydney in Design Computing and found himself distracted by the entrepreneurial spirit which took him to the USA as part of a small startup IT company. After only a year, Matt successfully sold the company and software to a financial services operator in the US and returned to Australia.
More recently, Matt has launched Mosaic, a financial services startup in Australia which has been backed by venture finance. His aim is to engage a younger generation in a broad array of financial investments through his platform.
Matt was eager to share his journey and in particular focus on non traditional post-school pathways. He identified that although university study wasn’t the path for him, he sees great value in returning to formalise his credentials. He recognised that skills such as resilience, entrepreneurialism, team work and collaboration have been far more central to his successes than University credentials at this stage of life.
