SCAS Senior Geography Projects complete

Wednesday morning marked an important milestone in our Year 11 Senior Geography classes journey towards the HSC, with the completion of their Senior Geography Projects otherwise known as the SGP.

Students have worked extremely hard over Semester one to complete a range of projects that included the affects of domestic dogs on shorebirds of the Hastings, the presence of the Red Fox in the known location of the Spotted-Tailed Quoll, population growth and its impact on travel times in Port Macquarie, the presence of plastics in fish of the Camden Haven River and the impact of four wheel drive vehicles on local beaches.

In addition to these projects students also investigated complex issues such as links of crime and unemployment in the Kempsey shire, possibilities of leachate from the Port Macquarie waste management facility affecting the Lake Innes Nature Reserve, how festivals impact local infrastructure and community and finally if the classification of Crescent Head as a National Surfing Reserve benefited the local community?

Mr “Topsoil” Tejcek said that he “would like to thank all of the staff, parents, students and workplaces that have helped these students produce truly excellent research and some throughly thought provoking projects. It has been an absolute pleasure to work alongside and teach such a committed and mature group of young students”.

Well done class!
