Surfing Scientist Show

On Tuesday 31st October, Year 7 and 8 students attended the Surfing Scientist presentation by Ruben Meerman.

During the hour long presentation, principles of light and matter were explored through the use of lasers and liquid nitrogen, their applications in real life, and anecdotes relating to responsible use and safety.

Students saw the dramatic effects of liquid nitrogen on the volume of gases by freezing a balloon, discovered how liquid oxygen and dry ice may be made from air, and learned about the future applications of laser technology in fibre optic communications.

Students reported that they enjoyed the presentation very much.
