Technology in Primary School Education

Year 1

This term students in 1G have been exploring the use of Beebots in Maths. Beebots are simple robots that can be programmed to move using arrows located on the Beebot’s back. Students had to write procedures, also known as algorithms, to program the Beebot to move using positional language. They explored forward, back, left and right. There was plenty of group work to create the procedures, and once these were created students swapped with their friends to test instructions.

Year 5

Year 5 have been busy making topographic maps. This year they have added a Makey Makey to the model. When activated, the Makey Makey triggers an automatic recording of the information students have researched about early settlement towns, the gold rush and facts about the indigenous people.
