Water Fun Day

Our Year 1 and 2’s had a visit from Lifesaver James as part of our Water Fun Day.

James talked about all aspects of beach and water safety. We learnt what all the signs meant and what the various flags are for. If we get caught in a rip, we must remember not to fight it, remain calm and conserve our energy. We must raise our arms above our head and call for help. Always go swimming between the flags and stay with an adult. Always look out for one another. James also talked about the importance of sun safety: hat, sunscreen, finding shade and drinking lots of water.

The children were extremely knowledgeable around water safety. James demonstrated a rescue with a floatation device with a couple of students.

The students took home some important safety messages and we’re sure they’ll remember them next time they are at the beach!
