Welcome Amy Bibby

This year we welcome Amy Bibby to our staff as our new Stage 3 Coordinator and Year 6 teacher. Amy joins us from Newcastle, where she was a teacher at Newcastle Grammar School.

The Media Team sat down with Amy at the start of Term 1 to learn a little more about her.

What are you looking forward to about 2022 at SCAS?Learning and growing, both personally and professionally. The staff are amazing and the depth of their knowledge and experience is truly inspiring. Also, I am super excited to get to know the amazing learners in Years 5 and 6, as their thinking and persistence has blown me away so far.
What was your favourite co-curricular activity as a student? I enjoyed both music and sport growing up. I played netball and tennis as well as playing trumpet in a marching band.
What is your favourite thing to do on the weekend in the Port Macquarie area?I am spending my weekends in Newcastle to spend time with family and friends. I also enjoy swimming laps in the ocean baths back in Newcastle on the weekends. Although I have heard that Port Macquarie may one day build their own ocean pool! More recently,  I created special memories with my Grandparents in Laurieton and am looking forward to revisiting the Camden Haven area in the coming months.
What was your latest good read?A book recommended to me by Sarah Jones – The Writing Revolution by Judith C. Hochman and Natalie Wexler. You know a book is a worthwhile read when you can turn to any page and become engrossed!
Tell us a fun fact about youPossibly unexpected but I love boxing! Before moving to Port Macquarie, I had been training at the same boxing gym in Newcastle for about 16 years! I have never stepped into the ring for a bout personally, but last year I obtained my boxing trainer qualification. It’s a sport where mindset is everything!
