Melissa joins SCAS in 2022 as our new Year 5 teacher. Melissa has taught in a variety of settings in Sydney and Port Macquarie, including roles in both Primary and Early Childhood Education, since 2004. Melissa has taught across a number of schools in Port Macquarie and has spent the last few years teaching at Westport Public School.
The Media team sat down with Melissa at the start of Term 1 to find out a little more about her.
| What are you looking forward to about 2022 at SCAS? | I am looking forward to being part of this wonderful SCAS community and meeting lots of new people. I am also excited to lead my Year 5 class through the year and have lots of fun moments along the way. I want to inspire them to work to the best of their ability and help them to be the best versions of themselves. |
| What was your favourite co-curricular activity as a student? | Definitely Basketball! I lived and breathed Basketball during my years at school. |
| What is your favourite thing to do on the weekend in the Port Macquarie area? | Visiting the beautiful beaches with my husband and children. We’ve also recently taken up stand up paddleboarding which we are really enjoying. |
| What was your latest good read? | I’m currently reading ‘The Farm at Peppertree Crossing’ by Leonie Kelsall. |
| Tell us a fun fact about you | I’m terrified of heights, however, I faced my fear a few years back and went hang-gliding off the top of a mountain in Interlaken in Switzerland. I’m also planning on doing a skydive for my 40th birthday this year. |
